Our FID engages in a close exchange with the academic staff of these institutions. We take their needs into account when providing electronic research materials.
Latest Licences via Proxy Server
Researchers at these institutions can access our latest licence offers quickly and easily. Access is automatically authorised from the networks of our circle of users via proxy server – campus-wide and via VPN without login. This service is currently mainly used for temporary trial access to new licence products.
The proxy server is operated by the Competence Centre for Licensing (KfL) – our service partner for electronic licences.
Individual Users
Researchers who do not currently belong to any of the above-mentioned institutions can also benefit from our services. Those who conduct research in disciplines within our range of subjects or in related fields have the option to register as “individual users”.
Individual researchers need to register at the FID’s licensing portal. Residence in Germany or affiliation to a German research project are required.
Registration as an “individual user” is only required in rare cases. For members of the above-mentioned institutions, access via their networks is the preferred method.
National Licences
The Specialised Information Service Middle East, North Africa and Islamic Studies was able to activate almost all products as national licences. They are available to the entire German research community. A redirection via the proxy server is unnecessary for these FID licences. Individual users must register with the national licences portal. This registration is then valid for all national licences.
